ABSTRACT. The article examines the legal and organizational aspects of documenting collaborationism in Ukraine. It has been emphasized that the legal regulation of collaborationism in Ukraine is connected with the growth of external threats from russia with the beginning of a full-scale invasion in February, 2022.

In the course of the research, the statement is argued that the lack of political will since 2014 and the delay of the legislative body in the timely introduction of this institution in the Criminal Code of Ukraine led to the exclusion of the possibility of bringing to criminal responsibility a significant number of persons whose actions fall under the scope of this crime, in connection in connection with the implementation of the principle – the law is not retroactive in time (Article 58 of the Constitution of Ukraine).

The need for an active process of documenting collaborationism in the period of martial law is argued for the purpose of neutralizing representatives of the fifth column of the aggressor country and reducing internal threats from this category of persons. Approaches to organizing the process of documenting the activities of collaborators and the facts of their illegal activities are proposed.

Practical examples and positive experience of documenting persons and facts regarding the specified crime and the formation of an alternative state database with such information, which are formed (added) by members of the public, are given. The facts of the creation of specialized chatbots by state bodies and public representatives regarding the identification of persons with signs of collaborative activity are noted.

Proposals are made regarding the use of prerequisites for intensifying the documentation of collaborators and the facts of their activities during wartime in order to prevent the destruction of the evidence base in the information space (social networks) and the creation of an agent network in the de occupied territories of Ukraine in the interests of the aggressor country.
